The make a delivery attempt, which I miss, and then I call in and ask them to hold the package so I can pick it up, and this is around 7 PM. I call the next morning, just to make sure the package isn't out on the truck, at which point, the rep says they didn't get the change in time, so they're going to make a second attempt. No big deal, I understand. Except, when I get home, there's no delivery attempt slip on my door. I'm guessing they were able to hold it, and I could have picked up my Roku yesterday, instead of today.
Anyway, that's nothing compared to my UPS debacle. The same day I miss FedEx, I also miss UPS. I call their number, and I'm kind of excited they have an option where you can change the delivery address. I select this and enter in my work address. Now, let's look at the pacakge tracking for this:
Tracking results provided by UPS: 02/06/2009 5:33 P.M. ET
Do we see a problem? Yes, yes we do . . .
They get the change request on the evening of the 4th. I can understand them making a second attempt, as I think 7 PM is their cut-off time. I in fact called them last night, just to verify the 3rd attempt would be to my work address, and the person I spoke to verifies that yes, they received a new address, and that that is where my package will be delivered. Imagine my surprise when I track my pacakge and see that I missed a 3rd attempt.
I call UPS again, and this time the women I speak with is very apologetic, even though I haven't expressed any anger. (Though I am somewhat miffed that they've screwed this up, even after I hounded them about it yesterday . . . ) Anyway, she says she'll have them hold it for me, and I can pick it up this evening, and she'll have the local center call me within the hour and let me know when it will be available.
This part at least works like it's supposed to. I get a call about 15 minutes later, and they inform me that the truck should be back in around 7:15 - 7:30, and they'll be there till 8:30. Let's hope that part is correct . . .
