screen updates

For some reason, when I've SSH'd into a shell, the screen stops updating after awhile. Fortunately, I run GNU screen, so I can just close the putty window, and then re-attach to the screen session, but it's kind of a pain to have to close and restart putty. I'm not sure what to google for to figure out why this is happening. It could be something with my Gentoo box not sending proper info, putty crapping out, or some combination of the two . . . kind of strange . . .

I forgot how loud this desktop was . . . another reason to maybe considering buying a cheap Dell or something off Craigslist . . .

I give up

While it'd be nice to get the old server up and running, it's just too loud. I thought about leaving it at my office, but after examining the office, it'd be too difficult to get ethernet cable from the router to my office.

New camera

So, I caved and bought myself the digital camera I've been lusting after for a while. I finally got around to taking some pictures with it today. It's got an orientation sensor in it, so smart applications, such as flickr or IrfanView rotate the image automatically.

I'm looking forward to trying it in lower light settings to see how the image stabilization feature works - since it has IS built in, it can use a slower shutter speed w/o flash, which should allow for better snapshots . . .
