buzzed, B&W

No more crutches

So, I went back to the orthopod today and I no longer have my orange cast. The cast was replaced with an Aircast, that I'm supposed to wear till May 2nd. I didn't take a shoe with me to the orthopod, so I stayed on my crutches till I got back to the office (where my other shoe was, and has been for the last 35 days). The ankle is pretty stiff and has limited range of motion. In fact, I'm significantly slower without crutches than with crutches.

I spent a good 15 minutes trying to wash my leg, but it still seems dirty. Anyone who has had a cast before knows how gross the dead skin is once you get a cast off.

The atrophy is pretty significant. I noticed that my right thigh was looking smaller than my left last week, and with the cast off, the difference in the lower leg/ankle is very noticeable.

Anyway, hopefully in the 6 weeks or so that I limp around, I'll build some strength back up, and get my range of motion rebuilt . . . we shall see . . .
