Bozeman trip

So, Friday night I went down to Bozeman with Sarah and Tynille. Tynille knew some of the guys that were performing at a hip hop show. When we got down to Bozeman, we stopped at the Pour House, where we touched base with Tion (aka Bukue One), one of the performers.

After dinner and drinks, we went to the show at the Zebra. Started off slow, but it built up as the night went on. The crowd was pretty small, but getting into it. Roc Raida ended the show, and his spinning was incredible.

While I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, being out of Helena on a Friday night was fun. Also, hanging out with Tynille, Sarah, and the folks we met down there was nice. And being able to tease Sarah about being the baby of the group was fun too (especially since I'm usually one of, if not the oldest, person in our group).

The Zebra and the show reminded me of a few of things. The bar had a "happy meal" that was a shot of Beam and a can of PBR for $3 - seems like it was designed for Greg. The hip hop reminded me of my step-brother (who I remember in the early to mid-90s listening to lots of Tribe Called Quest, the various spinoffs, De La Soul, etc etc). While I hadn't been to the venue before, I recognized the name from Pollstar searches I had done. A small little venue, that reminded me how much I miss shows.

I also had a bartender tell me that I look younger with orange hair (which is pretty much washed out at this point). Doesn't really bother me since I getted carded everywhere, but wasn't something I had thought about, though after she made the comment and I looked in the mirror, I was thinking I did look like a punk rocker to some degree.

The only bad part was my lack of energy - for some reason on Thursday I didn't sleep well, waking up at 2:00 AM, and not being able to really fall back asleep till 5:00 AM, so by the time Friday evening/night rolled around, I was running on fumes.

The rumormill

Helena is funny sometimes. I've got a reputation for being asexual in my peer group, and I've dodged a lot of drama, but people still wonder if I'm hooking up with people.

Some time last week, I had someone suggest I should try and date Sarah. I laughed about this, as while Sarah and I are great friends, I don't think there's ever been any romantic chemistry between the two of us. I think we work as friends because we're both highly individualistic, and we respect that about each other. We'll hang out and do things, but it's not the kind of relationship where we feel the need to spend hour upon hour with each other.

I had a good laugh last night when I was asked if I was hooking up with Tynille. I've only known Tynille for two weeks, and we haven't really spent that much time together, but apparently, people are wondering. Crazy.

While writing this post, I was reminded of the Murmur's song, Sucker Upper which starts off with the line "Asexual, far from intellectual." The song has absolutely nothing to do with my situation, just a song that I like.
