buzzed, B&W

He loves her . . . definitely maybe . . .

So, Shannon called me out the other night on my lack of commitment after I made three decent cut shots playing against her in pool. She was trying to recruit me to play league, and I was refusing (mainly since I don't want to be obligated to go to the bar, and the costs are a bit high for me), at which point she pulled out the big C word.

This came to my mind the next day as I was talking to someone about going to the gym - I'm usually good for a few months, but then I start getting sick of the time sink that it becomes, and move on to something else, whether it be soccer, reading, snowboarding, hiking, etc. We'll see how long I stick with it this time . . . (I had originally estimated 10-20 hours a week, but realized this morning I was forgetting to include the extra sleep I require now since I'm wearing my body out . . . so we're looking at probably 20-30 hours/week on gym related stuff.)

And it just came to my mind again today as I was thinking about VISTA and the commitment that it is. Surprisingly, I made the commitment, and finished two years of service, and it's something that I hold memebers to. I remember talking to one of our current members who was wavering about whether to stay on or not, and really trying to stress the point that they had made a commitment to serve 24/7 for 365 days.

I wonder why the VISTA commitment is something I hold myself (and others) to, while there's nothing else in the rest of my life that I can think I'm committed to . . .
