buzzed, B&W

So, I think on one of the AmeriCorps listservs I'm on, there was a post about this nifty site called ChangeThis. Check out their "About Us" page . . . while they're really just planting the seeds of ideas, and not instigating the change themselves, the manifestos that are published are nice, and cover such a broad range of topics. They publish the manifesto's bi-weekly.

One of the recent pieces was this bit on obnoxious cell users. It's a shame that the graphics don't print well in grey-scale, since they'd be great to hand out to those loud cell-phone talkers. Made me think a bit about my cell phone use - while I don't think I'm one of those people who's obnoxious on their phones, I have realized I excuse myself sometimes from conversations that I shouldn't when I get calls.

The founder of Patagonia had a great manifesto called "Don't Buy this Shirt!" where he addresses our economy, and how it's self-destructive.

It's also nice that most of their works are published under Creative Commons licenses, more specifically Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0, which allows one to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work, but requires you give credit, not use it for commercial purposes, and you can't make derivative works from the manifestos.

Anyway, probably not a site that's going to change the world, but I like brain-candy . . .

Twinkle, twinkle little star . . .

Kelly and Sarah - does this answer your question? The effect should be similar for lights in town, though I'm slightly dubious, as the amount of air that could be turbulent between us and the lights we're looking at is on the order of maybe 10 miles, while the atmosphere is like 350 miles or so . . .
