Superbowl Nudity

Okay, so I watched the Superbowl at Matt's church. No big deal there. One of his friends was in an office pool, where if there was a combined total of 51 points scored, he'd win a grill. Before the game, we all thought no way, the teams have such strong defense, there won't be that many points scored. We were wrong. The 62 point game surprised us, though Jason was funny when there were 51 points on the board.

Anyway, seems that most of the attention has been on Janet's tit. For those who didn't see it, an mpg is here, and the Matt Drudge has a recap. Drudge's report is kind of interesting since it does mention that CBS approved the thing, while all the public statements have said they were disappointed and that MTV will not produce another halftime show.
Top CBS executives approved a musical skit where Janet Jackson would expose her breast during the MTV-produced Super Bowl half-time concert, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"The decision to go forward went to the very top of the network," a well-placed source explained from New York.
I do think the link to the google cache of MTV is interesting too. Apparently, the article is no longer on MTV's site but includes this choice quote from Gil Duldulao, Jackson's chroegrapher:
"I don't think the Super Bowl has ever seen a performance like this," Duldulao added. "The dancing is great. She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there too. It's a lot of pressure, there's so many creative people and creative artists, you want to make sure everything is different, and I think she's going to do that. She's doing her job well."
(Emphasis added.)

Also interesting to note that she has a new album coming out in March or so that is being pitched as "easily the most sexy thing she's done."

The older secretary at the office was quite upset about the halftime, and wouldn't even say why she was offended, or why it was "just horrible." As another person said "she's a prude." The two people I talked with (both female) didn't see what the fuss was about. "It's only a boob." I would concur.

It's also funny that this attracted nearly twice as many Tivo viewers as any other point in the game.

Superbowl commercials

So, while Janet's Tit has drawn lots of attention away from other things (I'm surprised that Kid Rock wearing a tattered flag with a hole in the middle hasn't drawn any press), the commercials were what I watched the game for. (In fact, no one at the church noticed Janet's exposure.) So any comments on favorite commercials? Looks like this site has the ads in a variety of formats, though the HTML doesn't seem to render right in Mozilla.

I think my personal fave was Pepsi's Purple Haze, featuring a young Jimi Hendrix. Matt thought that the Pepsi/iTunes commercial and the IBM Linux ad were good. I liked almost all of the Budweiser spots: Fergus, Bud Light!, Yelling Like a Ref, Clydesdale Donkey, Horny Talking Monkey, and Wrong Lipstick. I thought Hot Girls Get Carded was dumb. Like a "We Card Under 30" sticker would stop a minor from trying to buy if they went into the store with the intent to buy. I liked the GM spot with the Aveo and the little people, Matt liked the convertible truck with the kids with soap in their mouth. The ONDCP spot was kind of interesting too.

So, anyone have any commercials they particularly liked?
