So, I went to soccer last night - mainly since I was getting bored about sitting in the apartment, and I really don't need to be going to the bars every night . . . was slightly painful, as it made me want to be healthy and play . . . 11 days till I go back to the orthopod. Still a long road ahead though, since I'll probably get a walking cast then, and my muscle mass is going to be shot, so probably two months or more of building that back up.

I'm not sure if I'm imagining things, but my right thigh even looks smaller than my left right now - so looks like I'll be working on rebuilding my calves, quads, hamstrings, etc. Yea. The one other thing I was thinking while I was watching is that my speed is going to take a hit. While I was planning on doing speed training anyways when it started getting warmer out, it's definitely going to take a while before I'll be able to get any explosive strength back. This might also mean a change to the way I play soccer, since my general strategy has always been to just slow down a little, and then sprint past defenders when they think they've got me figured out. Hell, I still thought I was fast enough that I could kick the ball to one side of a defender, while sprinting around on the other to beat them . . . in any case, it's going to be interesting to see where my strength and speed are at once I'm out of a cast/brace/whatever.

I definitely wasn't the fastest guy in our league (Andrei, Andy, and Sam are some names that come to mind when I think of fast people), but I was still pretty quick . . . it'll be interesting to see where I rank after this . . .

On a related note, my left hip is starting to bug me, probably since I spend too much time hopping around on the left leg for short distances, rather than using my crutches. *shrugs*
